President William Ruto has announced Kenya has secured Ksh300 million from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) to study the Mau Summit-Kisumu-Malaba road project. The funding aims to support infrastructure development in the region, enhancing connectivity and economic growth. The announcement was made during a public address, highlighting the government’s commitment to improving transportation networks.

The road project is part of broader efforts to boost regional integration and support Kenya’s economic ambitions. The AIIB funding reflects growing international confidence in Kenya’s development plans. Meanwhile, Ruto has also announced measures targeting foreign hawkers and small-scale traders, with enforcement starting on 7 September. These actions aim to regulate informal trade and improve market standards.

In separate remarks, Ruto emphasized Kenya’s strategic position as a hub for African investment, citing reforms that have improved the business environment. He also called on African intelligence leaders to assist in advancing AU reforms, signaling a focus on regional collaboration.

Political dynamics remain active, with rising political figures challenging Ruto’s leadership ahead of upcoming elections. Despite these developments, the road funding underscores the administration’s focus on infrastructure and economic growth.
